Library Cards

Ansonia residents, may obtain a free library card from us with proof of Ansonia residence. While your ALC is good at any other CT Library, please be sure to check with other libraries about their specific policies/hours. There is a $1.00 replacement fee for lost cards. Connecticut residents with a valid library card from their hometown library may borrow Ansonia Library materials. Library card holders may also access some of our online databases remotely by using their library card. Please contact the Library if you have any further questions.

Reserving a Book


If an item is out on loan you may request to be placed on a reserve list for that item. Requests are filled in the order in which they are received. You will be notified by telephone or email when the item is available. To do this you will need your ALC. .

Book & Media Drop Box


A book & media drop box is located outside the front entrance to the Library. There is a separate slot in the drop box for DVDs and CDs. The book & media drop box can be used during and after Library hours. Passes may also be return here. 

Interlibrary loans


If the Ansonia library does not have the book that you are looking for, we can, in most cases, find another library that does and have it sent to the Ansonia Library for you to borrow. For more information please contact the Library. 

Wi-Fi Access


The Ansonia Library offers free wi-fi access to our patrons. Your ALC is not required for wi-fi use. Network name and password can be found though out the library. If you need assistance please ask a staff member. 

Public Computers


The Library has two computers located in The Reference Room for public use by reservation for 1 hour at a time. Computers are internet accessible and have Microsoft Office for your use. Both computer have printing capabilities. See Printing/Scanning and Copying section for coping rules and costs. Please contact the Library to reserve your time.

Microfilm


The Ansonia Library has the Evening Sentinel dating from August 1896-December 1992, as well as the New Haven register dating from January 1993- December 1996 on microfilm. To use please ask the staff member at the circulation desk for help. Please contact the library with any questions.   

The Jean Whalen Community Room


The Jean Whalen Community Room is available for use by community members and organizations based on availability. Reservation is required. The community room is free of charge. However if you would like to help the Library with programing or purchase of books we do except donations. Please follow the link below to fill out the community room request form. The Historical Room


Our collection of Ansonia histories, family genealogies from Ansonia as well as neighboring towns, is located in our Historical Room. To use the Historical Room, please stop at the circulation desk to sign in. You will need to leave a valid form of ID at the desk to use the room. If you have any questions please contact the Library.
