HALLOWEEN COSTUME SWAP

September Programs

The school buses are rumbling, backpacks are zipped, and the air smells faintly of freshly sharpened pencils, and nobody is more excited about the new school year than Sprocket (as you can see), because that means classroom visits are right around the corner! Now that the big kids are off riding the school bus, the Children’s Room is ready to party with the littles! We’re jumping back into our weekly storytimes, bending and stretching in our twice-a-month yoga classes, and, of course, shaking out every last wiggle with Ms. Judy and her piano. Get ready for stories, songs, stretches, and building memories with your littles! Once everyone settles back into the school routine, our weekends and evenings will be packed with exciting events for the big kids. While we are all thinking about back to school, don't forget that Halloween is just around the corner! When you’re digging through your costume stash and thinking about letting some go, consider donating them anytime this month to our very first upcoming costume swap! Oh, and lastly.... a big splashy update: Sprocket and I will be traveling all the way to California this month to talk about the Blue Whales Project grant at the Association of Science and Technology Centers Conference. Don’t worry, we're not riding a whale there (airplanes are much faster), and the Children’s Room will be full of opportunities for fun while we are away! As The Happenings🎵 sang, "See you in September!"🎵

October Programs

Hello, boos and ghouls! This is your friendly Children’s Librarian here at the Ansonia Library, floating in with some fang-tastic news! Slither on over for a special visit from The Reptile Nook and visit with the nocturnal creatures they will be bringing along for Creatures in the Night! We’re brewing up something spook-tacular this month with our Halloween Costume Swap! Do you have a gently used costume that’s too small, too spooky, or just looking for a new trick-or-treater to haunt? Bring it to the Children’s Room, and we will give it a new home! It’s a great way to share the magic, save some ghoulish green, and help your fellow families get into the Halloween spirit. Whether we’re making tutus for teddy bears or whipping up Halloween goodies worthy of the show Nailed It!, we’ve got the fun covered. Pop in to see what crafty (and tasty!) magic we’re cooking up next because we’d love to “pumpkin-spice” up your October with books, crafts, and a cauldron full of fun!
