Most materials may be renewed. DVDs, materials on reserve and Interlibrary Loans cannot be renewed.

Borrowing Limits

There is no limit on the number of fiction books that may be taken at one time.
There is a limit of six (6) Non-Fiction books on one subject.
Six (6) Audios at one time.
Six (6) music CDs at one time.
Four (4) DVDs at one time.
Ten (10) magazines at one time.


If an item is out on loan to another patron, you may request to be placed on a reserve list for that item.
Requests are filled in the order in which they are received.  You will be notified by telephone when the item is available.


Fines for Overdue Materials

Adult Materials $.10 per day
Children’s Materials $.05 per day
DVDs $1.00 per day

Best Sellers
The Library purchases most titles on the New York Times best-seller list.

Return Box
A book and media deposit box is located outside the front entrance to the Library, for returning books when the Library is closed.  There is a separate slot in the deposit box for DVDs and CDs.

Interlibrary Loan
If the Library does not have the book that you are looking for, we can, in most cases,
find another library that does and have it sent to our Library for you to borrow.

PAC – Public Access Catalog
The Library’s card catalog is available in computer/electronic format
as well as standard format.  Our computer catalog allows access to local, regional, statewide,
and out-of-state databases, as well as electronic magazine indexes.

The Ansonia Library has the Evening Sentinel on microfilm dating from August 1896 to December 1992, as well as the New Haven Register from January 1993 to December 2016.  Obituary requests may be emailed to

Computers for Use
The Library has two computers available for public use, which have Internet
access and Microsoft Office 2013 which feature Word, Excel and Power Point.
Print-outs are available for $.10 per page and $.25 per page for color.

Fax Service
Patrons may fax information to other locations for a charge of $1.00 per page.
For International Faxes, the charge is $4.00 for the first page and $2.00
for each additional page.  There is no charge to receive a fax.
This service is provided by the Librarian on duty.

A copy machine is available for the public to use.  The fee for copying is $.10 black and white per page and $.25 color per page.  Scanning is also available free of charge.  You are required to bring your own USB for this service. 

Audio Books-on-CD are available for a three week period and are renewable.

DVDs are available for patrons to borrow.  These circulate for seven days, with a limit of four per Library Card.  Please note, these items cannot be renewed.

The Ansonia Library has a wide variety of music CDs, which include
Country, Jazz, R&B, Rock, and more. CDs circulate for three weeks, and patrons are permitted to check out six at a time.

Community Meeting Room
The Jean Whalen Room is available for use by local nonprofit groups free of charge.

Spanish Language Books
The Library has a collection of Spanish-language books available for circulation.

Wi-Fi Access
The Ansonia Library has Wi-Fi access available for use.
